Wine Highlights

  • Alberico Rosso is produced in extremely limited quantities from just eight rows of Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon in the estate’s historic vineyard. Planted on volcanic soils enriched by the Latium Volcano’s ancient eruptions, the wine boasts a distinctive mineral character, depth, and refined structure, hallmarks of the Ager Romanus terroir.

  • Alberico Bianco is an exceptionally rare single-varietal Sémillon, grown on volcanic soils in a vineyard once part of the original estate and gifted to the family. The wine expresses bright freshness, savory tension, minerality, and graceful aging potential, an elegant and one-of-a-kind interpretation of Sémillon.

🍽️ Six-Course Tasting Menu by Chef Michele Casadei Massari
To match the depth, regionality, and history of these extraordinary wines, Chef Michele Casadei Massari will craft a unique six-course tasting menu. Each dish will be inspired by the wines’ terroir and flavor profile, designed not only to complement but also to challenge and play with them, inviting guests to engage in a bit of sensorial fun and discovery.

🌋 Terroir & Vineyard Origins
Located just 15 km south of Rome’s historic center, the estate lies at 125 meters above sea level within the Appian Way Regional Park. The vineyards benefit from mineral-rich volcanic soils containing phosphorus, potassium, magnesium, and other essential elements that support excellent drainage and complexity. The northeast/southwest row orientation harnesses cooling sea breezes from the western coast of Lazio during summer, contributing to the wines' balance and finesse. Red grapes grown include Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Cabernet Sauvignon, while whites focus on Sémillon and the native Malvasia del Lazio “Puntinata”, recognizable for its speckled berries. New vineyard plantings use genetic material propagated from the estate’s original eight rows of Cabernet and Merlot—preserving the very clones planted by Prince Alberico himself.

🏛️ Winemaking & Cellar Philosophy
The estate’s cellar is thoughtfully divided into two specialized areas: vinification and aging. White wines are fermented in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks at 13°–15°C to preserve aromatic purity. Red grapes undergo maceration in resin-coated concrete vats, then are blended and aged in carefully selected barrels—ranging from 16 to 31 hectoliters and classic 225-liter barriques—chosen to highlight the distinct characteristics of each varietal and vineyard plot. Every stage is designed to enhance the wine’s natural elegance and expression of terroir.
