The value of a winery is rooted in three pillars: Land, History, and People.
Damilano has thrived on this philosophy for over 130 years.
A Storied Lineage
Founded in 1890 by Giuseppe Borgogno, and later named after his son-in-law Giacomo Damilano, the winery has passed through four generations of dedicated stewardship. Since 1997, Guido, Mario, Paolo, and now Chiara Damilano have brought the estate to global acclaim while preserving its Langhe soul.
A Commitment to Nebbiolo and the MGA Crus
Damilano is one of the most important Barolo producers, with vineyards across the finest MGA (Menzione Geografica Aggiuntiva) sites—each offering a unique expression of Nebbiolo and some of the deepest histories in the region.
The MGA Barolo Vineyards - The Crus
Cannubi – The Grand Cru of Barolo
Cannubi is Damilano’s flagship and one of Italy’s most revered crus—widely considered a Grand Cru equivalent. Its soils are a rare blend of Tortonian and Helvetian eras, resulting in wines with intense aromas of cherry, plum, rose, and violet, coupled with finesse, elegance, and structure.
Damilano owns 2 hectares and leases 8 more in this sacred vineyard.
Liste – Power and Longevity
An exclusive MGA vinified by only two producers. Its loam and silty soils, with low sand content, yield complex, structured Barolo with strong tannins and great aging potential. Wines from Liste are released a year later than other MGAs due to their intensity.
Brunate – Classic Elegance
Once called Brinate, this plot in La Morra offers perfect exposure and soils rich in calcium, silt, and clay. Barolos from Brunate are known for tobacco, rose, licorice, and in great vintages, truffle and tar, with graceful depth.
Cerequio – Power and Grace
A stunning south-facing amphitheater, Cerequio enjoys warm protection and deep, loose soils of clay and silt. It produces structured and complex Barolos, rich in character and suitable for extended aging.
Raviole – Damilano’s Solo Expression
Located in Grinzane Cavour, Raviole is an MGA exclusively vinified by Damilano. Alluvial soils bring out the wine’s fresh fruit, floral lift, and delicate personality, while clay and loam enhance balance and finesse.
Serralunga d’Alba – Strength and Structure
The Lequio formation soils of Serralunga, alternating between clay marl and sand, give birth to robust Barolos with intense mineral tones, red fruit, cherry, licorice, and tobacco. These wines are benchmarks of age-worthy Piedmontese tradition.
